Our Independent Inspection services refer to the evaluation of materials, equipment or facilities to ensure that they meet certain standards, regulations or specifications. The purpose of inspection services is to verify the quality, safety and compliance of materials, equipment or facilities. The inspection process can involve visual examination, measurement, non-destructive testing or other methods to assess the condition, performance and compliance of the item being inspected, occasionally including destructive testing. Inspection services play a critical role in maintaining the quality and safety of equipment and assets and are an important part of quality control and risk management processes.

Our inspections entail comprehensive evaluation of the helideck on offshore installations, islands and moving assets to ensure that it meets the relevant safety standards and regulations. The inspection covers various aspects of the helideck and its functionality. Helideck inspections are always conducted by qualified specialist inspectors and are performed on a periodic basis to maintain the safety of the helideck.

The inspection process typically involves NDE such as visual inspection, magnetic particle and eddy current testing of the helideck and its equipment, as well as functional tests to ensure that the equipment is working properly. The results of the inspection are documented by a report which may include recommendations for any necessary repairs or upgrades. The inspection scope is also designed to evaluate the physical characteristics of the helideck or helideck and obstacle free sectors. This includes more extensive equipment and resources such as refueling systems and quality assurance procedures, communication equipment, meteorology support equipment, competence of crew, passenger handling facilities and helicopter operational procedures.

Helideck Perimeter Net Drop Test: This test is performed to evaluate the integrity and strength of the helideck perimeter netting, which is used to prevent objects from falling off the helicopter platform. This test is controlled, destructive testing that involves dropping a weight from a specified height onto the perimeter netting and measuring the deformation of the netting. The results of the test are used to determine whether the netting meets the relevant safety standards and regulations or if the net must be replaced.

Helideck Friction Test: This test is performed to measure the coefficient of friction of the helideck surface, which is an important factor in determining the safety of the landing area. The friction test is usually performed using a calibrated MicroGrip Helideck Friction Tester that measures the force required to slide a weight across the surface of the helideck. The results of the test are used to ensure that the helideck surface provides adequate traction for aircraft landing and take-off and that it meets the relevant safety standards and regulations. Our Inspectors are Trained to the highest market standards as Trainers and practice under guidance of Findlay Irvine.

Both the Helideck Perimeter Net Drop Test and the Helideck Friction Test are critical components of a comprehensive helideck inspection and are performed to ensure the safety and compliance of the helideck with the relevant standards and regulations.
